Week 1 / Important Information/ Action Items **

Hi Everyone,

Thank you to all of our families for your support this first week. It’s exciting to see all of the returning faces and meet many of our new families. For those of you new this year, please know that we understand that it can be so overwhelming to join a summer swim team for the first time. There will be tons of information sent your way… PLEASE read all of the information that goes out and ask questions as we go. We try to think of everything you need to know, but some of us have been in swimming for a while and we forget what it’s like to be new to the sport. Email is a great way to get answers. If you see Erin, Amy or Cat at the pool, you can also feel free to ask them questions and we will find you the answers. Please do not try to ask the coaches while they are coaching… they need to have their attention on the pool.

We are so fortunate to have a great relationship with our HOA. There are plenty of teams who really have to fight for the support of their neighborhood. Please help us to continue our positive relationship by following all of the pool rules. Here are some of the things that swim team had to be reminded of last year.

  • 1. No glass anywhere inside the fenced area of the pool. This includes ceramic coffee mugs/ breakfast dishes.
  • 2.No gum allowed
  • 3.Please do not allow your child to ride their bike or scooter inside the fenced in area. They should be left outside the entrance gate.
  • 4.Please make sure you help your child remember to leave things better off than they were left for us. For example: push in chairs at the tables when you leave, throw away all trash, make sure you have all of your belongs.

Next Week:  Afternoon practice schedule (can be found on our website)

Weather Policy:  It looks like we may have some questionable weather this next week.  Please familiarize yourself with the weather policy found on our website.

Action Items:  To be completed ASAP

1.  Practice Meet (May 23rd): Please make sure you declare your intention to participate in this meet by Wednesday, May 18th so we can create the line up.

Go to westhavenswimteam.com

This meet is a practice meet, designed to teach our families what a meet will look like, train our volunteers in different positions and allow us to compile a list of best times for each swimmer. We realize that this date is the 5th grade promotion at Pearre Creek and some of our families will miss. Unfortunately, we can’t change the date because we are only allowed to host meets on Mondays. This meet is not an official meet.

2. Swimmingly: Please make sure that you are registered on swimmingly by May 18th so we can enter your swimmer in our practice meet.

We are required by the Williamson County Swim League to use swimmingly.app to run all of our swim meets. Every swimmer must be registered on swimmingly.app before they will be allowed to compete in a swim meet. There is a $14 registration fee per swimmer to be paid by each family. We currently have 113 out of 208 swimmers registered.

3.  Download the TWO Swimmingly apps onto your phone. One is light blue (used to run the meets), one is dark blue (used to follow your swimmer’s results).

  • Light Blue Swimmingly app: you will use this app when you are a timer or meet official.
  • Dark Blue SwimminglyFan app:
    • Once you download this app, you can choose to follow Westhaven Swim Team: 2022 Summer Season.
    • Click on Westhaven and you will see our Meet schedule.
    • If you click on a meet, you can choose to see the roster and search for your child.
    • Click on your child and this will allow you to follow your child throughout the season.

Happy Swimming!

~Erin, Amy and Cat
